AI & Compliance Disclaimer
Otter uses artificial intelligence to extract structured data from contracts, certificates of insurance, and related documents, and to surface compliance signals based on configurable rules.
Not legal advice
AI-extracted contract terms, risk flags, and compliance scores are informational only. They are not legal advice and do not establish an attorney-client relationship. You and your counsel are responsible for reviewing the underlying documents and making decisions about contract execution, vendor relationships, and compliance posture.
Accuracy
Every AI extraction carries a confidence score and a citation back to the source document. Confidence is informational; the source document is authoritative. We surface low-confidence extractions for human review and provide manual override throughout the platform.
Insurance verification
Otter tracks the certificates of insurance and attestations that vendors upload. We do not directly query insurance carriers to verify policy status in the MVP release. You should treat uploaded COIs as point-in-time snapshots and use the platform's expiration tracking to manage renewals.
Compliance scoring
Compliance scores are generated from configurable rules (presence of contract, COI status, infosec documentation, etc.). They are a tool to prioritize attention, not a regulatory determination. Specific industry, state, and contractual compliance requirements are your responsibility to define and apply.
Human override, always
AI suggests; humans decide. Every extracted field, score, and recommendation can be overridden by an authorized user, with the override recorded in the audit log.
